Crimsonfall Caroline is the pre-circus MR Earth version of Caroline — a Berserk DPS who turns the damage her allies receive into Berserk Energy through Twisted Desire, then returns it as ever-growing Earth damage. This guide compiles her full kit star by star (0★–7★) from the JP wiki and official CN sources, her Frenzied Mutation passive and Madness Collapse, the anti-heal/shield Malice Chain, the Tyrant weapon, builds and three Earth lineups with Rafaela, and the lore of the Rasparta Chimera experiment subject controlled through mutation-suppressant drugs — clearly distinguished from SSR Caro

Summary

Do not confuse her with the SSR Caroline who arrived earlier. Crimsonfall Caroline is an Earth-element MR Resonator in Echocalypse: Scarlet Covenant — a Berserk DPS with a counter-growth style: the more damage her team endures, the more energy she stores through Twisted Desire, and the harder her Active and Critical hit. This guide compiles her kit from the JP community wiki's per-star tables and official CN posts, clearly marking which mechanics are active at low stars and which only open at 3★, 5★, or 7★.

Lore: The Rasparta Chimera Experiment

Caroline was an early experimental subject in Rasparta's Host program. She gained power approaching that of a Host creature while still retaining part of her human consciousness. However, the Chimera DNA underlying her evolution came from multiple species, so her body suffers constant, tormenting rejection reactions. Under normal conditions she must periodically take mutation-suppressant drugs to prevent uncontrolled transformation — and Rasparta uses that very dependence to control her. Caroline was then employed under the persona Many-Faced (Qianmian), a role combining physical ability with identity-switching skill.

When Caroline was caught hiding a drug stockpile, surveillance on her tightened: she had to undergo ever more frequent science-division examinations, while her suppressant ration was cut as punishment. As a result she only dared swallow a little of the drug when she truly felt on the brink of losing control. The physical pain and mental pressure were unrelenting — yet little by little she realized her body's tolerance limit had risen. Caroline began to believe that if she could endure the rejection effects, she could finally free herself from Rasparta's control. She kept testing her own limits, until one day the Chimera power inside her erupted completely. This is the backdrop of the name Crimsonfall: giant power emerging together with the threat of losing reason and identity. Her conflict is not merely a human turning into a monster — Caroline must choose between staying dependent on the organization that hurts her, or wielding a dangerous power that could erase her human side.

Relation to SSR Caroline: the SSR Caroline of the later story is known as the Chimera Circus leader and a monster tamer. CN materials describe the Crimsonfall form as relating to the period before the Circus / Many-Faced persona — the early phase before she became the Ringmaster players know.

Berserk Mechanics

Caroline's main loop is simple: front-row allies endure damage with Block active, Twisted Desire records part of that damage as Berserk Energy, and the stored energy fuels the bonus damage on her Earth Active and Critical. Six effect names to understand:

  • Twisted Desire: stores a portion of the damage allies receive as Berserk Energy, up to a maximum equal to 2000% of Caroline's ATK.
  • Berserk Factor: a global ally buff — raises Block and adds stored energy when Block triggers.
  • Twisted Infection: a buff for frontliners; when they are attacked, the enemy's ATK drops and Caroline's ATK rises (available from Active 3★).
  • Malice Chain: a follow-up attack when an enemy receives Heal or Shield (from Active 5★).
  • Madness Collapse: when energy reaches its cap, reflects Control and punishes the lowest-HP target (Passive 3★).
  • Absurd Fantasy Beast: the 7★ mode; grants damage bonus and resistance if Caroline's Shield is thicker than the target's.

A misunderstanding to avoid: Caroline does not need to be deliberately sacrificed to raise her damage. Her mechanics count the damage received by allies carrying Berserk Factor — the key is keeping the team alive long enough to convert that energy into damage. Useful energy sources: front allies who can take many hits without dying, units with strong Block (the Berserk Factor bonus does not mean every attack will be Blocked), Shield support that keeps tanks alive through repeated attacks, and multi-hit enemies that give more chances to record damage.

Crimsonfall Caroline's Kit

Caroline's four skills revolve around a single axis: stacking Berserk Energy. The per-level numbers below come from the JP wiki's tables; each star row shows the highest skill level opened at that investment point.

Basic — Brutal Whiplash

A working translation from the JP: Violent Whipping (暴虐鞭罚). This Basic is also a long-term damage-stacking tool.

  • Lv1 (0★): 88% ATK Earth Physical DMG to the enemy front; recovers 25 Critical Gauge.
  • Lv2 (unlocks at 1★): 97% ATK; recovers 25 Gauge.
  • Lv3 (unlocks at 4★): 129% ATK; Active DMG +7% permanently per trigger, up to +21%; recovers 25 Gauge.
  • Lv4 (unlocks at 6★): 157% ATK; Active DMG +10% permanently per trigger, up to +30%; recovers 25 Gauge.

Investment impact: at 0★ and 3★, the Basic is not the source of the +30% Active DMG buff — that bonus only starts opening at 4★ and reaches its maximum form at 6★. The longer the fight, the greater the chance to reach three stacks; at low stars the fight centers more on gathering energy for Active/Critical.

Passive — Frenzied Mutation

The passive is Caroline's main engine, even before she has many stars.

  • Lv1 (0★): Twisted Desire stores 20% of ally damage (cap 2000% ATK). Berserk Factor: Block +20%; each Block stores 30% of damage received. No per-round shield strip yet.
  • Lv2 (unlocks at 1★): 25% of ally damage stored; Block stores 40%. At round start, strips enemy front Shield by 15% Max HP (cap 300% of Caroline's ATK); Final DMG +5% and Final DMG Reduction +5%, up to 3 times.
  • Lv3 (unlocks at 3★): 30% of ally damage stored; Block stores 50%. Shield strip 20% Max HP (cap 400% ATK); Final DMG +8% and Reduction +8%, up to 3 times; unlocks Madness Collapse.

Madness Collapse (from 3★): once Twisted Desire reaches its energy cap, Caroline gains Madness Collapse for 3 rounds. She can reflect one Control effect to a random enemy; if the reflect succeeds, she deals an additional 400% ATK damage to one enemy with the lowest HP. Not every Control type can necessarily be reflected — verify the target status. Practical math: at 3★, three rounds of fully active passive buffs can reach +24% Final DMG and +24% Final DMG Reduction — that is the maximum accumulation of the 8% × 3 mechanic, not an instant round-one bonus.

Active — Bestial Outburst

  • Lv1 (0★): 202% ATK to the front; uses 10% of stored energy; recovers 50 Critical Gauge.
  • Lv2 (3★): 255% ATK; 15% energy; Twisted Infection to 1 front ally (2 rounds): attacker's ATK −3%, Caroline's ATK +3%; maximum 5 stacks.
  • Lv3 (5★): 297% ATK; 20% energy; Twisted Infection to 2 front allies: ±4% ATK up to 8 stacks. Malice Chain 150% ATK, +30% bonus vs Water, max 2 triggers per round.
  • Lv4 (unlocks at 6★): 319% ATK to the enemy front row with its effect lasting 3 rounds; 30% energy; Twisted Infection ±5% ATK up to 8 stacks; Malice Chain 200% ATK, +50% vs Water, max 2 triggers per round.

At 5★ and 6★, Malice Chain stays active for 3 rounds and triggers when an enemy receives a Heal or Shield behind — the follow-up hits its target even when the trigger came from a different unit. These numbers are not 7★ numbers placed on a 0★: at low stars, Infection and Malice Chain do not exist yet.

Critical

  • Lv1 (0★): 303% ATK Earth DMG to the front; 20% energy bonus; no Shield drain.
  • Lv2 (unlocks at 2★): 356% ATK; 25% energy; Shield drain not yet open.
  • Lv3 (5★): 446% ATK; 40% energy; siphons enemy front Shield up to 15% Max HP per target (cap 50% of Caroline's Max HP); an extra 10% of Caroline's Max HP against Water enemies.
  • Lv4 (7★): 521% ATK; 50% energy; siphons Shield by 20% Max HP per front enemy (cap 50% of her own Max HP); an extra 20% of Caroline's Max HP vs Water; Absurd Fantasy Beast for 3 rounds.

Star Comparison: 0★, 3★, 5★, 7★

  • 0★ — Basic energy engine: Basic 88%, Active 202% + 10% energy, Critical 303% + 20% energy, Passive records 20% of ally damage. Fits as a collection option and Earth damage trial; no shield strip, Infection, Malice Chain, or Beast yet.
  • 3★ — The kit's turning point: Basic 97%, Active 255% + 15% energy and starts applying Twisted Infection, Critical 356% + 25% energy, Passive records 30% plus a 20% Max HP shield strip and Madness Collapse, Final DMG/Reduction +8% per round up to 3 times. The 3★ upgrade is not just a multiplier — it adds a new enemy-ATK suppression mechanic and staying power at full energy.
  • 5★ — Anti-sustain online: Basic Lv3 129% (from 4★) with an Active buff of +7% up to 21%; Active Lv3 gives Infection to two units and introduces Malice Chain 150% (+30% vs Water); Critical Lv3 446% drains enemy Shields by 15% Max HP.
  • 7★ — Best ceiling: Basic Lv4 157% (unlocks at 6★), Active Lv4 319% + Malice Chain 200% (+50% vs Water), Critical Lv4 521% with a 20% Max HP Shield siphon and Absurd Fantasy Beast. 5★ already brings a far more complete anti-sustain toolkit; 7★ enlarges coefficients, survival, and the Shield-advantage condition — the difference can matter a lot in long PvP, but it is not a universal T0 guarantee.

You own Rafaela + Zoya + ShenHigh if you need an Earth counter-DPS against Water/Shield.
No Earth frontlinersMedium/low; build the team first.
F2P, only able to reach 0★Situational; the Berserk core exists, but Malice Chain and Beast mode are not active.
Budget target 3★Reasonable if Earth is built; key Passive + Infection open.
Target 5★A large value jump for anti-Heal/Shield and Critical drain.
Target 7★A PvP specialist if Shield support is strong and resources allow.

One CN analysis rates Caroline highly when accompanied by heavily invested Shen + Zoya, while cross-roster community tier lists can place her lower. That difference is largely explained by setup needs, PvP/PvE mode, and star breakpoints plus the Shield-comparison buff. Ratings are not official win-rate data.

Weapon Tyrant, Oath, and Radiance

Her exclusive Vibration Arm is named Tyrant (暴君). The SR Prototype Tyrant was available through CN event missions and can activate Resonance despite lower stats; whether the same reward is available on other servers must be checked in each event. The weapon's star system differs from Caroline's stars and skill levels. Community-documented effects:

  • Weapon 0★: when an ally is Controlled, attacks the enemy front for 150% ATK Earth, at most once per round.
  • Weapon 3★: the counter rises to 180% ATK, Caroline's damage +10% for 2 rounds; at most once per round.
  • Weapon 5★: counter 200% ATK, Caroline's damage +20% for 2 rounds; at most once per round.
  • Augment Rank 1: upon gaining Absurd Fantasy Beast, a 150% ATK Earth follow-up to the front, once per battle.
  • Augment Rank 8: a 300% ATK Earth follow-up, plus Heal Received −30% on the enemy back row for 3 rounds.

Radiance: the JP wiki lists effects after one enemy is defeated — Rank Lv1 Elemental Hit +5% permanently (max 3 activations per battle), Lv2 +8%, Lv3 +10%. The JP wiki also associates Caroline's synergy links with the figures V.V., Leviathan, and Sphinx as Radiance interaction candidates — do not claim every link is active without checking ownership and level requirements on the client. Her event outfit is Enchanting Dance; owning it is not automatically the same as activating every Oath Skill — check the Oath screen and unlock status on your account.

Build & Positioning

Build & Positioning
PriorityStat / reason
1. ATK%Determines the Physical DMG coefficients and the 2000% ATK Berserk Energy accumulation cap.
2. HP% / Shield survivalThe 5★/7★ Critical has Max HP-based bonuses against Water and needs long endurance.
3. Final DMG / Earth DMGRaises the main front-row damage and follow-ups.
4. Critical / Elemental HitHelps offensive consistency depending on gear access and targets.
5. Final DMG ReductionPrevents Caroline from being eliminated before her stacks reach the strong phase.

Two build architectures: (1) Balanced Earth DPS — ATK + HP + Shield support; fits 0–5★ accounts and long fights; do not chase damage until Caroline KOs often. (2) High-investment PvP — ATK + Elemental Hit + Final DMG with Shield protection and the Tyrant weapon; fits fighting teams that constantly produce Heal/Shield. Positioning: CN guides suggest rear slot 4 when using Windstrider Eriri in front slot 1, so Caroline is protected by a same-column ally. Without Eriri, rear slot 6 is one option to minimize early targeting — adjust to the opponent. These recommendations are mechanism-based, not official damage simulations.

Earth Lineups

1. Full Earth / Controlled Counter

Front row: Zoya, Shen (Mirage), Juliette. Back row: Rafaela, Crimsonfall Caroline, Catherine. A conceptual 6-Earth template; positions can change with enemy skill priorities, and Rafaela is the only Coordinator. Why is it strong? Zoya + Shen are the Shield and protection core — the combination CN guides highlight for keeping Caroline alive and maximizing Shield conditions. Rafaela as the Earth Coordinator helps Block and protection; the team triggers Berserk Energy while holding the front line. Juliette contributes Earth and additional attack pressure — this slot is the most flexible per account. Catherine provides sustain and protection so the scaling phase does not stop before Caroline fires her Critical. Roster note: the name Shen is called Mirage in some versions — confirm the local name on your client, and evaluate this composition against Thunder-element enemies that can pressure Earth teams.

2. 5 Earth + 1 Wind / Column Protection

Front row: Windstrider Eriri, Zoya, Shen (Mirage). Back row: Crimsonfall Caroline, Rafaela, Catherine. Eriri sits in the front slot aligned with Caroline's rear slot 4. This is a cross-element example team; the 5:1 count follows the elements of the characters actually fielded.

3. Earth Core / Flex Damage

Front row: Zoya, Shen (Mirage), Juliette. Back row: Crimsonfall Caroline, Rafaela, Honorblade Chiraha. A more aggressive version with a second Earth carry; if defense is lacking, swap Chiraha for Catherine or a defensive support as needed. Without Rafaela, Caroline can still be played as a plain Earth DPS, but she loses the Earth Coordinator benefits — do not force a 7★ Caroline if the base tanks/Shields are not ready.

How to Play PvP & PvE

Caroline excels when enemies keep protecting their front row with Heal and Shield. In PvP: against defensive Water teams she is good at 5★+ (bonus vs Water, Malice Chain, Shield drain) but can die before scaling if enemy burst is high. Against multi-hit/sustained teams, Twisted Desire fills faster and the Passive Final DMG can stack — the risk is your own frontline collapsing without sustain. Against heavy Shield teams, the per-round shield removal (1★+) and Critical drain (5★+) are highly relevant, though the strip has an ATK-based cap so thick shields can still hold. Against very fast burst comps, she needs Eriri, Shen, or Zoya to protect the opening — her 0★ early performance is not as strong as an instant burst dealer. Against control-heavy comps, the Tyrant weapon gains triggers when an ally is Controlled, but do not assume the Oath and weapon are already unlocked.

In PvE, Caroline's strength shows more clearly in fights that give her time to stack energy: front-heavy bosses exploit Passive stacking and energy recovery from frequently-hit allies, and both Active and Critical focus the enemy front so boss placement affects results. In short burst challenges, her 0★ opening damage is not as high as the maxed kit often showcased. Enemy summon/shield mechanics can trigger Malice Chain every round. A simple testing checklist: measure total damage over 6 rounds (scaling, not just opening burst), how often Malice Chain appears, Berserk Energy at Critical time, frontline HP remaining at round 4, and damage vs Water vs non-Water — at equal investment and enemy levels. If Caroline falls in the early rounds, raise durability before crit/DMG. Do not compare a 0★ Caroline with 7★ videos using an active Tyrant and Oath.

Rotation & Berserk Management

  1. Early round 1: watch team Shields, frontliner Block, Twisted Desire starting to record — guard the tanks and Caroline; do not force a front position if she is easily bursted.
  2. Rounds 2–3: watch the Passive Final DMG growth (3★), enemy front Shield strip, Twisted Infection — make sure the front line gets chances to be attacked without falling; use the enemy ATK debuff.
  3. As energy builds: Twisted Desire nearly reaches Caroline's 2000% ATK cap — fire the Critical at the timing that yields the highest bonus damage; try not to lose the energy to a KO.
  4. After the 7★ Critical: compare Caroline's Shield vs the enemy's — find targets with thinner Shields so Absurd Fantasy Beast truly works.
  5. Enemy heal/shield: Malice Chain is available at 5★+ — the follow-up occurs after an enemy receives heal/shield; mind the 2-per-round limit.

A simple example: if Caroline's ATK is 100,000, the energy cap = 2000% ATK = 2,000,000 energy units (before other damage formulas). The 7★ Critical lists 50% of stored energy as an additional component — do not automatically conclude 1,000,000 final damage, because mitigation and game rules still apply.

Verdict

The conclusion: Caroline is a scaling Earth DPS anti-sustain, not an instant carry. 0★ offers the Berserk engine, 3★ adds scaling control, 5★ opens anti-Heal/Shield, and 7★ adds burst plus the Shield-comparison buff. She shines most in an Earth team that can keep her alive long enough — with Rafaela, Zoya, and Shen propping up the front line, the damage her team receives turns into punishment returned to the enemy front row.
